Response Action Conducted Under CERCLA

Overview

Whittemore and Haigh Engineering, Inc.’s design engineers use a comprehensive approach that includes screening of alternatives, treatability studies, cost estimation, contracting, and construction oversight to facilitate the installation and operation of remedial systems. Our remedial design experience has focused on biological remediation systems, interception trenching, free-product recovery, drainage control, and control systems for stormwater runoff and runon. Our technical staff is highly qualified in both the design of remediation systems and the field implementation of these systems, including oversight of construction, operation and maintenance activities, and follow-up monitoring to evaluate cleanup.

Featured Project

Whittemore and Haigh Engineering, Inc. was contracted to conduct a response action under a consent order issued by the EPA. The project site consisted of approximately 2.3 acres located along a steep, unstable stream bank. The response action required an initial investigation to delineate contaminated soils. Whittemore and Haigh Engineering, Inc. delineated contaminated soils, conducted a hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of the portion of stream under consideration, and completed the design and engineering of the stream bank stabilization and cap for contaminated soil.

Whittemore and Haigh Engineering, Inc. obtained all necessary permits and authorizations on the County, State and Federal levels, prepared the contract documents, and served as construction manager for the project.
